Sharp Things, Cheese and Arrows

I like mustard, but right now I just want to say a few things about el queso.  My favorite all around general purpose cheese is extra (extra) sharp cheddar, especially if it's wrapped in black.  Not that it means anything, but as I peel away the black wrapper, the yellow-orange colored block of solid dairy delight, contrasted with black seems to transcend into the elemental realm of AU.  I do like cheddar to be slightly crumbly, as if it were reverting from a compressed block back into bite sized clods of flavor.

A list of ways to eat cheese.  Nothing new here to most people, but this list is for the uninitiated, those unfortunate to have never eaten cheese... ever.  Which is probably not YOU.

  1. Melt it onto whatever you are eating for breakfast,  an omelette?  A parata?  A slice of toast?
  2. Grate it to use on tacos.
  3. Put it on crackers for a snack.
  4. Hot Green tea, cheddar, and crackers, while typing.
  5. Pizza.  Yes, if you've never had cheese, that means you've never had pizza.
  6. Grate some cheese over heavy soups or chili, pasta or salad.
  7. Cut some into cubes for a party tray.
  8. Have some with wine.  So cliche.
  9. Fry up or better yet, bake, mozzarella into cheese sticks.
  10. Nachos... although you should question if it's cheese when you don't melt it yourself.
  11. Grab a bottle of Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce at Costco, serve it up with Cheese and Crackers.

tillamook vintage cheeseSome of my favorite cheeses:  Mizithra Cheese (with Spaghetti and Browned Butter),  Gruyère, Extra Sharp Cheddar, Parmesan, and Philly Cream Cheese.  I really love the Tillamok Special Reserve Extra Sharp Vintage, which is aged a minimum of 2 years.  They put it in that black wrapper, as if to hide the fact that it is edible gold.  Don't even think about making grilled cheese with special reserve.  The complex flavours of eating a grilled Special Reserve Extra Sharp Vintage will make your brain retard into a reptilian state that will release so much dopamine that you will be stricken with nympholepsy akin to that of a perverted millionaire spanked with a paddle made of $10,000 bills.

Did Special Reserve Extra Sharp Vintage go to the WCA?  Probably not.  Did I go the to WCA?  No.  It's ghetto gourmet in my house, man, what's wrong with you.  On occasion, I will spring for an affordable Gruyère at the local market.  If I had enough money to buy a plane ticket to Europe to attend the World Cheese Awards in Islas Canarias, I'd be making grilled cheese sandwiches with Sartori Reserve Raspberry Bella Vitano or some Soignon Chèvre de Charactere.  I mean, who knows what those even taste like?  If you do, then you should probably be eating, instead of reading this article.

easton xx75 arrows

Anyway, I picked up a half dozen Easton XX75 Gamegetter arrows.  Supposedly more performance and accuracy than any arrows in their class.  I can only compare them to cheaper aluminum arrows I was shooting with before, but anything would be better than those.  Anodized 7074-T9 alloy with 96,000 psi strength rating. Full-diameter taper swage. Straightness of ± .003" and a weight tolerance of 1-1/4%.  I had the shafts chopped to 29 inches and put 100 grain Trophy Ridge field points.

I'm shooting with my longbow, which without silencers emits a very low strum and feels smooth with these XX75s.  I will eventually want to get bamboo or poplar shafts with feathered fletchings since I'm shooting 'off the shelf,' which I've put a small strike plate and pad of fur to protect the wood.  Something tells me though these XX75 arrows will last longer and the plastic fletchings don't do much harm to the bow.  Wood arrows with feather fletchings for practice seem like they wont hold up as long, therefore costing a bit more over time, but I'll drop that thought until I actually try out wood and feather arrows.

Taking photos of my bow is similar to taking a picture of most anything long and thin, an ordeal in composition which goads me into filing a request with NASA to aim the Hubble Deep Field telescope to my backyard and just take the photo for me, along with my entire city, state and zip code.  Were it not for the bill... but I keep telling myself the economy will get better.  Then next best thing would to google my bow and find pics that someone else took of it.
